Profiles of Experimental Musicians

T U E S D A Y S M A R C H 5, 12, 19

We’re screening a new movie series at the Firehouse in March: profiles of experimental musicians. The first one is Tuesday March 5 and features John Cage!

If you think of John Cage as a mere weirdo charlatan, your opinion will be swayed by Peter Greenaway’s depiction of Cage as an extremely bright and charming man whose pioneering work with prepared piano, electronics / tape music, and mixed media performances, along with his radical composition methods, has firmly secured him as the father of American experimental music.

We’ll start at 8:00 PM and have popcorn. Next week is Meredith Monk and the week after that is Sun Ra. Hope to see you there!
