A Very Special Update

Many of you already know the big news: we bought the Firehouse! The house is now entirely owned and operated by the people who live here. Currently, the property is privately owned by two of our members, but we plan on transferring it to our collectively-owned corporation as soon as possible.

A great moment in history.

We’ve been keeping busy at the Firehouse, flying under the radar during this very exciting transition. Our good friend M. is currently working on fully restoring her vintage camper in the main room downstairs. The stream of musical activity has continued undeterred: The Terribles, Cleansing Wave, Fang Noir, Gay Shapes, Mack the Knife, and Shai Erlichman all have recorded perfect music in the basement during our “down time.” And the new “wild and unreasonable” supergroup Funeral Cone practices here now.

Some sweet changes are in store for the Firehouse. We’re re-structuring the main room downstairs, building newer, better rooms and opening up new spaces. We have new folks moving in, and new events on the horizon, housewarming party details forthcoming.

Many thanks to everyone who has supported us during these trying times of uncertainty — especially those who have come out and participated in our fundraisers. Without your help, we wouldn’t have been able to do this. (♥)

Tonight: Un Saddest Factory Theatre Company Presents Their “Night of Weird”

The Firehouse is proud to host the theatrical works of the Unsaddest Factory Theatre Company, presenting their “Night of Weird” Theatre!
They’re good friends of the Missoula Oblongata (who we’ve gladly hosted on several occasions), so you know it’ll rule.

SUNDAY!  SUNDAY! SUNDAY!  APRIL 11th.  7PM SHARP!

The show includes:

“At the End of Infinite Rope”, starring Mason Ross, is play about a loud, abrasive, drunk, and unhinged professor lecturing about civilization’s inevitable march to its own destruction.  Ross was awarded “Best Comedic Performance” by the Baltimore City Paper for his role in “At the End of Infinite Rope”.

“The Title Sounded Better in French” is set not quite in reality, but the next town over. The two main characters are two young women who find themselves onstage in search of a project; They work out failures, address broken hearts, and wake up laughing. The piece premiered at The Access theatre in New York City and was also performed as a part of the 2009 Whartscape at the Baltimore Museum of Art.
Showbeast, a touring puppet show and video series created by Benjamin Beast, Erin Gleeson and Alan Resnick. Showbeast that has been screened all across the country including the Baltimore Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art in Detroit, the Pop Montreal Music Festival, and the Pozen Center at MassArt.  www.youtube.com/shwbst
